Tchotchke Gallery proudly presents High Maintenance, its highly anticipated annual all-girls group exhibition. This year the gallery packs the house and a punch with 32 international female-identifying artists. This exhibition is a celebration of the strength of women and a powerful statement directed at the art world ecosystem, elevating the voices of artists who are often overlooked.
High Maintenance challenges conventional notions of gender identity and societal expectations placed on women, reflecting a broader cultural shift towards a greater focus on diversity and inclusion. The gallery's dedication to promoting artists who are often overlooked and amplifying their voices creates a fertile ground for dynamic and timely curatorial decisions to be made within the exhibition. High Maintenance serves as a platform for these artists to showcase their work and ideas, opening up a dialogue and creating a community that encourages and empowers future generations of creatives.
According to gallery co-founder, Marlee Katz, "As women in the arts, we understand the impact of representation and the need for diverse voices to be heard. Tchotchke Gallery is a byproduct of this commitment with High Maintenance as a reflection of that ethos.”
Gallery co-founder Danielle Dewar echoes this sentiment, “This year, we are proud to feature more artists than we ever have before. Through the sheer volume of talent in this exhibition, we hope to create a space for women to showcase their work and inspire future generations of artists to thrive and make their mark on, not only the industry but the world.”
High Maintenance will be on view from May 30th, 2023 through June 23rd, 2023 at Tchotchke Gallery, located at 311 Graham Avenue. The opening reception for the exhibition will be held from 6 - 8 pm EST on Tuesday, May 30th.
